A poem: Conquest

Wrote this one today, how a man lets a girl take hold of him, hope you like it!

Conquest

I fly halfway round the world and you’re always there,
Squeezing my heart in your vice-like grip,
Every ounce of common sense dripping out,
Clairvoyance renders me broken.

How much destruction can you cause,
Before my mind grabs hold of me,
Shaking the soul like a ragdoll,
Showing the barren wasteland.

You travel my brain in your barbaric ship,
Claiming land as your own,
Planting flags in my fields,
Of apprehension and rumination.

Your conquest is complete,
I’ve succumbed to loves pressure,
Pleasure swamping through your ego,
Mine cowers and shrivels.

You dexterously overcame me,
Surrendering to wave upon wave,
Of your seas desecrating my shores,
Pummelling until submission.

There is no escape,
No second chance or rewind,
The hold forever tightening,
As you choke my bones.
