A poem about what you'd tell your younger self if you had the chance, I'm quite proud of this one and I hope you like it :)
A Warning:
If I could tell my teenage self one thing it would be this,
Don’t rely on one person,
The heartbreak will make you ache,
And you will change forever,
You’ll feel lonely when not alone,
Self-hatred dated back to when,
She says it’s over.
You’ll think of your inability to please,
Ask yourself malicious questions,
Festering within your fragile heart,
Torn apart and back to the start,
Looking over your shoulder,
Colder and frozen,
A dozen or more thoughts,
Thaw at your ice heart,
Melting your sense away.
You’ll think of the good days,
Wasting away in your memory,
A fantasy of happiness,
Lest forgetting the times you struggled through,
To be together forever,
It was never on her plate,
Love was late to the tea party,
By the time you arrived,
She’d gone,
Moved on to the lucky lad,
Who had stolen her heart from you.
You’ll wonder what you did wrong,
Whether she was shallow,
Or you were just ugly,
As you only showed care,
There for her whenever she called,
You bawled your eyes out with her,
Teary eyes looking back at you,
Ending up loving you like a brother,
Not a significant other,
Walking away in the end,
To send you out to the world,
Leaving you curled in your bed,
Led to believe love was right,
When it was wrong and for her went on too long.
You’ll ponder what you’ll do now,
And how to find someone,
None come and whisk you away,
Not today, tomorrow or any day,
Searching for a light,
A girl to brighten up your nights,
She might not exist,
Or have kissed another man,
Than you who treats her poorly,
Surely running to your arms,
Sweet charms reel her in,
But to hope is a sin,
In your blackened heart.
Heed my warning,
As the day will soon be dawning,
Where you’ll be left,
A heinous theft,
On your soul,
As your lover lets go.
